The Dig command is the Domain Information Groper. It is a network administration command-line tool which is used for analyzing DNS nameservers. Domain Information Groper command is used for verifying and troubleshooting DNS problem. This command can be operated both in command line mode or batch mode by reading request from an operating system file.
The output of this command has six sections. They are

- Question section
- Answer section
- Authority section
- Additional section
- Statistics section
