Modify a Directory’s Index Settings Using cPanel
This article will guide you to modify a Directory’s Index Settings using cPanel. Index Manager will manage to display the directories on the web. You can customize the directory and see how it will display on the web. There are four types of index settings such as Default system setting, No indexing, Standard indexing and Fancy indexing. If you wish that no one would see the files in your directory, then choose No Indexing. If you don’t want to interpret in the case then leave it to default System setting. In Standard Indexing, directory list will display in the form of text if there is an absence of index file. In Fancy indexing, the directory will be displayed in the form of icons with text if there is no index file. Follow the steps below to Modify a Directory’s index settings using cPanel.
Step 2: Select the option Indexes under Advanced section
Step 3: Select the folder which is needed to be index
Step 4: Choose the type of indexing for the folder
Step 5: Click the button ‘Save’ to save the settings
Step 6: Done! A successful message is displayed
Step 1 Login to cPanel, with the help of your domain URL. Otherwise directly access our server URL.
Step 2 Click Indexes under Advanced section.
Step 3 Click the folder you want to protect or modify the indexes settings. The list of the folder will appear on the screen, select the folder which you want to index.
Step 4 Choose which Indexing style you want to that folder.
Step 5 Click Save to complete the settings.
Step 6 Done.
The Index Manager allows you to customize the way a directory will be viewed on the web. You can select from the four options they are Default system setting, No indexing, Standard indexing and Fancy indexing. If you don’t want to change your folder into a directory then click No indexing. Indexing will help you to change the visual representation of the list in either text and text with icons mode.
