An SSD (Solid State Drive) is a non-volatile storage device used for storing and accessing the data. It is faster, more reliable and consumes less power. The first SSD was implemented in IBM supercomputers in the 1970s and 80s. It can be used instead of hard disk drive (HDD) as it much faster than HDDs. It is a great solution for netbooks, nettops, and other applications.
