The  Pico (Pine composer) is a text editor for the Unix and Unix-based computer systems. This has been designed by the Office of the Computing and Communications at the University of Washington and combined with the Pine e-mail client. This document also describes Pico, Pine’s default text editor, which you automatically use when you compose a message. It prompts and other on-screen information will be presented in typewriter style type.

The Pine’s message composition editor is also available as a separate stand-alone program, called PICO. The PICO is a very simple and easy-to-use text editor that offers the paragraph justification, cut/paste, and a spelling checker.

Syntax: pico filename.extension

Command: pico demofile.txt

Pico cannot copy text from one file to another and also does not support working with several files simultaneously. It cannot perform find and replace across multiple files but can support search and replace operations.
