The first microprocessor 4004 is a 4-bit central processing unit (CPU) released by Intel in 1971. This chip was started to design in April 1970 and it was completed under the leadership of Federico Faggin in January 1971. It was the first commercially available microprocessor from Intel. Its design is smaller than a thumbnail which is packed with 2,300 transistors, executed with 60,000 operations per second and sold for $200 at that time.
