A MAC (media access control address) is a unique value associated with a network adapter. These addresses are assigned by the manufacturer of a network interface controller (NIC) and stored in its hardware. The MAC addresses are used as a network address for most IEEE 802 network technologies, including Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
