What is IP address?
An IP address can be static or dynamic address. The IP address is a unique address for each device. An Internet Protocol address is an identifier for computers or device on a TCP/IP network.
Static Internet Protocol address
A static Internet Protocol will never change and it is permanent internet address.
Dynamic Internet Protocol address
A dynamic Internet Protocol address is a temporary Internet Protocol address. It’s assigned each time a computer or device accesses the internet.
The format of an Internet Protocol address
An Internet Protocol is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255.

IP address standards
IPv4 – The internet protocol version 4 is a protocol for use on packet-switched Link Layer networks. The Internet Protocol address is 32 bits in decimal format. IPv4 provides an addressing capability of approximately 4.3 billion addresses.
IPv6 – The internet protocol version 6 is more advanced. IPV6 has more IP ranges compared to IPv4. The Internet Protocol address is 128 bits in hexadecimal format. It has the capability to provide an infinite number of addresses.
