FTPD (File Transfer Protocols Daemon) is the DARPA Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server process. The server uses the TCP protocol and listens at the port that is specified in the FTP service specification. It focuses on securing the software and runs on a variety of Unix-like operating system. It has also been ported to Android. It authenticates the files that are transferred to the client process. It interprets the file names according to the “globbing” conventions so that it allows users to utilize the metacharacters such as *, ?, [], {}, ~.
