About FTPD Protocol: 

FTPD (File Transfer Protocols Daemon) is the DARPA Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server process. Here you will see, details about FTPD and its purpose.

FTPD has also been ported to Android and authenticates the files that are transferred to the client process. It interprets the file names according to the “globbing” conventions so that it allows users to utilize the metacharacters such as *, ?, [], {}, ~.
