Since 1971, Ray Tomlinson was a Computer Engineer and he sends the first email which was simply a test message by himself. The email was sent from one computer to another computer in Cambridge, Massachusetts and it traveled through ARPANET (ARPANET was the network that became the basis for the Internet) that was a precursor of the Internet. Ray Tomlinson is better known for introducing the “@” sign as the locator in email addresses.
