DDR memory is nothing but the type of synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) with high bandwidth interface, Let’s see the different type of DDR memory
DDR3 (Double Data Rate type three(3) ) is nothing but the type of synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) with high bandwidth interface which is in use since 2007.
DDR4 (Double Data Rate fourth-generation) is a type of synchronous dynamic random access memory with high bandwidth interface. It was released in the year of 2014 as the successor to DDR3. It is more efficient than DDR3.
Difference between DDR3 and DDR4:
- DDR4 is more expensive than DDR3.
- The speed of DDR3 and DDR4 varies. DDR3 specifications starts at 800 MT/s (Millions of Transfers per second) and goes high as 2133. DDR4 starts at 2133MHZ. The increase in speed results in overall increase in bandwidth.
- DDR3 is high in performance with increased bandwidth. DDR4 is also high in performance with improved data integrity and lower power consumption.
- DDR4 is limited to Intel’s X99 and Extreme processors but it not better for gaming. But DDR3 is widely used as a current standard for system memory.
