MIME

MIME types (Multipurpose Internet Mail Exchange) instructs a web browser or a mail application to handle specific files from a server. It tells how to handle files received from the server with specific extensions. In Plesk, globally-defined MIME types are inherited by all the websites and are defined in virtual directories. If a web server receives a request for unregistered MIME type, then it returns a 404 error. To add a custom MIME type in Plesk, follow the below steps

Steps to create a custom MIME Type

Step 1: Login to Plesk panel with the username and password. Then go to the section ‘Websites and Domains’ at the top of the menus.

Step 2: Select the option ‘Virtual Directories’ for the domain to view, add or delete a MIME type.

Step 3: Click the tab ‘MIME types’ at the top of the Virtual Directories page.
